Dr. Gloria Blaise

Originally from Carrefour, Haiti, Dr. Gloria Blaise holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources and the Environment from Cornell University, where her research focused on planetary health in Haiti. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Natural Resources from Rutgers University and a Master of Science in Natural Resources from Cornell. Her academic journey reflects her commitment to understanding and addressing the intersection of natural resources and socio-political challenges, particularly in Haiti.
Dr. Blaise’s passion for Haiti grew from her curiosity about the country’s natural resources and rural life. In 2018, she embarked on her first road trip exploring Haiti beyond the capital, sparking a deep dedication to innovative rural development. Her work has involved studying Haitian and international organizations to identify key elements of successful programs and document valuable lessons learned, shaping her approach to impactful development initiatives.
In addition to her role with Grown in Haiti, Dr. Blaise serves as the Director of Research Development at Haiti Policy House, Washington D.C.'s first Haitian-led foreign policy think tank. She is also a board member of Ayiti Community Trust, which invests in Haitian-led innovations critical to the country’s development. Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Blaise enjoys exploring nature, playing and listening to music, and traveling to reconnect with Haiti.
Inspired by Grown in Haiti’s mission, she looks forward to contributing to its growth and hopes to return to Haiti to further her work in rural development.
