Our Mission, Our Vision

Growing Futures, Restoring Hope

Our Mission

Grown in Haiti (GiH) champions a future where communities and nature thrive in harmony. Since our inception in 2014, we’ve been dedicated to empowering Haitian communities through sustainable and regenerative agroforestry practices. We have transformed landscapes by growing and distributing over 12,000 fruit-bearing trees, restoring soil health, and enhancing biodiversity.

Our initiative extends beyond agroforestry to education and community resilience. We aim to continue expanding our reach, nurture self-sufficiency, and foster ecological stewardship in Haiti.

Key Achievements

  • Revitalized Ecosystems

Successfully revitalized soil health and biodiversity across local landscapes by distributing over 12,000 fruit-bearing trees, turning degraded lands into thriving ecosystems that support both people and wildlife.

  • Infrastructure for Sustainability

Created and maintained community nurseries and built water cisterns, significantly enhancing local ecological systems and bolstering environmental stewardship and sustainability.

  • Community Support & Development

Bolstered community resilience through the provision of emergency first aid services and educational scholarships, ensuring individuals have the support and opportunities needed to thrive in challenging times.

  • Education & Empowerment

Hosted regenerative agroforestry workshops and authored a comprehensive guidebook in Haitian Creole, equipping local farmers and community members with the knowledge and tools to sustainably manage and benefit from natural resources.

Looking Ahead

  • We’re all hands on deck to get our Community Learning Center up and running by the end of 2024. It’s not just a building, it’s where our community’s growth and learning will be strongest, offering everyone a place to learn, share, and dream together.

  • Next on our list is to kick off a community kitchen and a spot where we can all come together to cook and learn about food processing. This is about feeding bodies and minds, making sure everyone gets a taste of food and good knowledge.

  • Clean water is a right, not a luxury. We’re putting plans into action to make sure that every one of us has access to safe drinking water. Our upcoming water purification center is more than a project; it’s our promise to the health and well-being of our community.

  • Education is the seed of growth, and we’re planning to plant it far and wide. By expanding our educational programs, we’re not just teaching sustainable land care; we’re growing a community of stewards who’ll protect and nurture our environment for generations to come.
